Adult Protection
Adult Protective Services is responsible for investigating and providing preventative services to individuals reporting allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation according to KRS 209.020.
Child Protection
The Child Protection program has primary responsibility for receiving and investigating reports of alleged child abuse and neglect and for providing services to children and their families where abuse and neglect is found. It is also the responsibility of this program to educate and inform the community about issues of child abuse and neglect and the community's responsibility in this area.
Adoption
Adoption is a method by which adults become the legal parents of children not born to them.
Foster Homes
Foster Families provide temporary supplemental care to children who have been separated from their families. The goal of foster care is to return children to their families.
Recruitment and certification workers are responsible for recruiting foster care families statewide.
After becoming a foster parent ongoing support/assistance can be found, among other places, through the Kentucky Foster/Adoptive Parent Support Network.
